I found this excellent, extensive dossier on Food published by The Economist in Dec 2003, but still very relevant. Someone sent me a printout, but I do not have the digital files. If you are subscribed to "The Economist", access it and read it.
I'll look for it at my college library. Since I've graduated, I no longer have electronic archive privileges but I may be able to get it another way... Meanwhile, the library will have the hard copy from 2003, or at least microfiche. This looks good.
