Yemeni tribesmen from Yafi`
From Assafir. Ali with whom I worked in Yemen in 1990-1991 told me once a story about the tribesmen from south Yemen, and how they fought the British colonial invaders who were established in Aden with stones and sticks and daggers and spears. Ali's story was that they had no access to steel so they engaged the British army and killed a few soldiers every now and then so that the army would send planes to bomb them. Then they would use the large shrapnels to manufacture essential items such as plows and also weapons such as swords and daggers and spears. But that's Ali's story and we were chewing qat, so I can't vouch for it.
