Let them drink milk

Two articles saying the same thing about California and Lebanon: we may not be able to have agriculture if droughts continue. No more water.

I don't know Rami, it's extremely depressing. Let me tell you, I've been praying for rain here in California and we got some this month. I think prayer is all we've got left, prayer and voodoo - rain dances and such.

James lovelock says we're all doomed unless we go to biochar immediately, to sequester carbon.

I don't agree with you Laila. Look at the article on water management, we could do reasonably well with less water if we can manage it. The problem is that there are no structure to organize management.

OK thanks for making me feel better. I have not been able to sleep since I read this article. He said California will be out of water.

I talked to my husband about it. He doesn't credit my fears, but he was willing to listen. I said: compost toilet; greywater recycling; rainwater cisterns for irrigating. He was willing to consider these possibilities, which some are already implementing in California.

BTW the California article was written by Joseph Romm, who I have met. He is the cousin of my husband's cousin. It is a small world, really, since I found his work thanks to the link posted by my Beirut blogger friend, but I have a family connection to him.

Ms. Levantine - I am thinking of Ann Arbor, Michigan - plenty of water and farmland, northern, great university, lots of Arabs, Arab-American museum nearby, good bookstores, cafes, farmers markets and libraries. Everything I need for civilized life. The economy is down but ....
