Dom people

Further to my post on the Roma people (Nawar), Valery pointed me to a website and a journal devoted to the Roma people, or the Domari or Dom people as they are known in the Middle East. I provide here links for 3 articles which are interesting about the Dom people in Lebanon.

they provide a good general background on the Dom of the Middle East and Lebanon. (thanks Valery)

I checked the DOM research center site, and I have to say it is the most comprehensive site I have ever seen on any topic. Very impressive.

Very interesting.
I was wondering : in the popular saying "ma fi doumari bi el Chareh (there is no doumari in the street), is it the same meaning of doumari ?

That's brilliant Ibn Rushd. You're probably right.

If true, it is another indication of how racist our society is.

In other countries, the equivalent saying goes like "the weather is so bad there is no cat (or dog) outdoors"
