Starbucks down

"The Seattle-based chain tonight revealed a 70% slump in quarterly profits to $64.3m and announced that it intends to shed 6,700 employees this year. It is closing 300 stores, two thirds of which will be in the US, on top of 660 shutdowns last year." (Thanks Marcy)

I bought my own roaster and buy green beans online. Much better coffee and my kitchen has become a gathering place for my friends and neighbors. I get gifted with pastries and coffee mugs and they love getting to taste my latest effort...and the 'mistakes".

Until recently (no more, I hope and assume) there was a spot in downtown San Francisco where one could see four different Starbucks outlets not more than a block distant.
